Holiday Festivities = Holiday Feast!

In just a short week and a half, the holiday season will be in full swing, and we can barely contain our excitement – or our stomachs!  Of course, the holidays just wouldn’t be the same without the whole she-bang, but when we really get down to it, our appetites trump all (because we obviously didn’t get enough at Thanksgiving!).  The festive decorations, friends and family gatherings, gift exchanges, and annual traditions are just icing on the cake, but a holiday just isn’t really a holiday without the delicious treats!

Now that we’ve got your stomachs rumbling along with ours, we wanted to share some of our favorite holiday dishes.  Maybe you can even add a couple to your meal plan!  Make sure you send us an email at press@sockittome.com to let us know how it turns out!  Or send in your own favorite holiday recipe for us to try out!

Matt‘s mom (or, I mean, Santa) kept it simple and sweet with his Christmas goodies.  For more than 25 years (and, yes – he does still get a stocking every year from his mom), Matt receives a pound of Peanut M&M’s.  Talk about a chocolate overload! We could be eating M&M’s for weeks! (Although, now that we think about it, that doesn’t sound too bad…)

Jacob‘s favorite holiday food is also pretty simple – although neither Santa nor his mom necessarily approve of his choice of snack.  He has fond memories of the black olives his Grandma served as an appetizer (although we’re pretty sure his mom doesn’t remember these times quite as fondly).  He would prance around the house with an olive on each finger until the entire bowl was gone- much to his mom’s dismay.  What’s wrong with a little bad manners as long as you’re creating memories?! (But we sure do hope the tradition stopped in his childhood; it might not go over so well for a grown man to be sucking olives off of his fingers!)

While Matt’s devouring pounds of chocolate, Kisa is getting her lion’s share of sugar!  For Kisa, Christmas and cookies have become synonymous, and her mom still mails her batches of her delicious, home-baked cookies every year.  With dozens and dozens of holiday cookies – including chocolate crinkles, thumbprint cookies with homemade raspberry jam, seven layer bars, sugar cookies in holiday shapes, chocolate peanut butter cookies, and Russian teacakes (her favorite!) – it sounds like Cookie Heaven!

In true Sock It to Me form, Carrie‘s favorite holiday goodies comes more in the form of an adult beverage.  As an added bonus, she’s not too picky either – pretty much any type of holiday-flavored drink will do, from Hot Toddy’s to eggnog.  One of her all-time favorite though is hot cocoa with peppermint schnapps.  Food isn’t the only way to a girl’s heart! ;)

Amber‘s favorite holiday grub comes straight from the Aloha State!  As a native Hawaiian, she loves to chow down on purple sweet potato casserole during the holidays!  (Sounds so Hawaiian!)  Check out the recipe for this scrumptious dish here: http://www.food.com/recipe/okinawan-purple-sweet-potato-pie-with-haupia-topping-359757.  Feel free to mix it up a bit too!  Amber suggests trading out the haupia with grated coconut and making it as a casserole instead of a pie.  Let us know how it turns out!

Wishing you all a very merry holiday season, and a stomach full of an amazing holiday feast!  Send us an email with your favorite holiday recipes that we can try out this year!

‘Tis the Season…for a Holiday Contest!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!!!  (When else do we get eggnog?!)  Twinkling lights hang from every house (think Clark Griswold in Christmas Vacation), children stand in line for a chance to tell Santa their Christmas list, and presents pile up under the tree.  We LOVE everything about this time of year – the food, festivities, and favorite holiday traditions!

Here at the Sock It to Me headquarters, we like to show a little love to our AMAZING team with our annual holiday party.  We take over a small section of the warehouse and deck the halls – complete with a Charlie Brown Christmas tree!  Then we enjoy a little potluck meal and bask in the fact that we survived yet another season of Christmas chaos (no small feat, mind you!).  And to top off the celebration, we shower each other with presents during our office gift exchange.

The holiday party is an awesome way to kick off your shoes and relax after the last package has gone out, but even better than that is our annual Christmas card photo shoot!  Our inspiration for this year’s post card came quite unexpectedly while we were setting up a couple of our mall kiosks.  Matt, our GM, spied Santa’s Village and couldn’t resist bringing the team back for a little photo-op!  (Good thing it was right after Thanksgiving, and the village was still vacant!  Can you imagine all of the crying kids and screaming parents if we did it now?!)  So in true Sock It to Me fashion, we snapped a few (somewhat Christmas-y) shots.  Check them out!

So, now that we’ve told you a little bit about our traditions here at the Sock It to Me headquarters……we want to hear a little bit about YOUR favorite holiday tradition!

Drum roll, please…….

Sock It to Me’s Most Wanted Holiday Gifts This Year

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!  While we’re all slowly recovering from our scrumptious Thanksgiving feast food comas, visions of sugar-plums are already dancing through our heads. :)   ‘Tis the season of giving, and our team at Sock It to Me has already been pounding the pavement, scouring the shelves for the PERFECT gifts for our loved ones.  But, of course, we’ve run into the same, classic problem that every good shopper faces at one time or another — along the way, we’ve discovered many great items we’d like to add to our own Christmas lists.  So just in case you were wondering what to get us for the holidays, we’ve compiled a small list of our most wanted holiday gifts this year!

After a crazy, hectic holiday season in the Sock It to Me warehouse packing the hundreds of orders that come in daily, Kisa dreams of a white Christmas, but not necessarily white snow.  Instead, she wants a big, fluffy down comforter and a quiet place to nap.  We can’t promise the quiet, but the down comforter shouldn’t be too hard to find!

Heaven Must Look A Lot Like This

Just like her eclectic job titles here at Sock It to me, Amber‘s wishlist contains all kinds of off-the-wall items.  After browsing the pages of Etsy, Amber came up with a thorough list of must-haves.  Whose home isn’t complete without a “Corporate Portrait Print – Sea Otter” by Etsy’s Shanalogic smiling down on them while they eat their breakfast cereal?!  And no outfit is complete without a dinosaur necklace!

Whoever pulled our GM for the office gift exchange this year might have a little trouble finding his gift at the mall.  As a father of “two girls ages 2.5 and .3,” Matt just wants a little more time to spend with his family.  (What do you think the cost of that is?!) With a little luck, he’ll be re-establishing his family’s annual trip to Whistler to hit the slopes and spend a little QT with his girls.  We don’t know if Santa can fit all that in his sleigh, but here’s to hoping that Father Time saves the day and grants him a little Christmas miracle :)

Whistler Ski Resort

Carrie agreed with Matt that the best gift she’ll be receiving is a little time off to spend with her family in Nebraska.  The holidays are all about loved ones anyway, right?  Of course, she wouldn’t mind finding a shower cap (Matt says he has that one covered), some work out shorts, and portable iPhone speakers under the tree as well. :)

Mostly this...

With a little of that...

Our Customer Service Representative Extraordinaire Jacob is crossing his fingers for a little Christmas magic as well.  Father Time is going to be pretty busy with our Sock It to Me crew this year!  Jacob would love to unwrap a jet pack or a teleporting gun (all very reasonable gifts) to shorten his daily commute and give him a little more leisurely time to spend at home.  (Of course, if we actually had a jet pack, we probably wouldn’t be spending much time at home anyways!)

Can we get one with mustaches please?

Only 25 more days to Christmas! Let the countdown begin! What’s on your holiday wish list this year? We’d love to hear! Feel free to post a comment below, or send it to us at press@sockittome.com!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is just TWO days away, and our stomachs are already rumbling!  Who wouldn’t love a holiday centered around an enormous meal?!  FOOD, family, FOOD, friends, FOOD, festivities… Okay, okay – we suppose there is more to Thanksgiving than just the pumpkin pie, so we make sure to count our blessings (between bites, of course!). ;)

Since we can’t celebrate with all of our faithful fans, we wanted to share a little bit about our favorite Thanksgiving traditions…

Kisa, our wonderwoman in the warehouse who handles all of our inventory needs, is a Thanksgiving-aholic.  As a sucker for food-based festivities, you can most likely find her in front of a HUGE plate piled high with all of the traditional trimmings – pumpkin pie, stuffing, and gravy!  After cleaning her plate (quite possibly more than once), she loves to catch up with good friends while enjoying some hot butter rum — sounds like a perfect evening to us also!

Kisa and the other half of our dynamic duo, Amber, (what doesn’t that girl do?!) could make a pretty tough team at the Thanksgiving table.  In between helpings of her favorite mashed potatoes, she uses the lazy 4-day weekend to her full advantage and takes plenty of naps, dreaming of the day when she can finally celebrate Thanksgiving with her family again in Hawaii.  She misses the holidays at the Hawaiian homestead that consist of a huge party with her parents’ friends where everyone brings a dish and goes to the beach.

Carrie (does she even need an introduction – she’s the founder of course!) likes to keep a good balance between family and friends for the holidays.  This year it’s 95% friends and 5% family as both her and her mom plan to attend a friend’s potluck style meal just a mile down the road.  Just good friends enjoying a good meal, and no stress whatsoever (and boy, she certainly deserves it with all of the chaos she’s been dealing with at Sock It to Me!).

Of course, when all of our stomachs are full, everyone at Sock It to Me sets aside a little time to think about how thankful we are to have YOU – the best fans in the entire world!

7 NEW Sock Styles for Holiday 2011!

We can’t believe it’s already mid-November!  With the weather turning colder, it’s time to break out the scarves, gloves, and – of course – socks!  Our sock designs are the perfect accessory for jazzing up an outfit, even when you’re all bundled up!  And – as if our collection wasn’t amazing enough -  Sock It to Me has just released 7 BRAND NEW sock styles in time for the winter months!

We’d like to take a few minutes to introduce you to the newest members of our beloved Sock It to Me family! :)

Inspired by one of our very own team members, Amber, our Tacky Sweater Socks spread the holiday merriment from head-to-toe!  Now you can deck out your legs while you’re decking the halls!  Mix-and-match this pattern with another holiday pattern to make your tacky holiday sweater party ensemble even tackier (and please do send us pics!).

You can thank our AMAZING fans for the next three additions!  Sometimes even though a design-a-sock contest submission doesn’t receive enough fan votes on Facebook, we think they’re just too adorable for us to pass on by, so we just HAVE to produce them.

The Arcade Game socks gave us a blast from the past, and we had to share our nostalgia with all of you!  We love our Xbox and Playstation just as much as anyone else, but sometimes we miss the simpler days with Pac-man and Frogger!  But since they’re probably better as memories (technology and graphics have come a LONG way since those days), we thought it’d be better to honor our beloved games with these socks rather than breaking out the original Nintendo!

Our Confetti sock also comes from a contest submission!  We love EVERYthing about these socks – especially the vibrant colors and the fact that a party isn’t really be a party without these Confetti socks!

It’s time to jazz up the romance around here – no more text messages, no more emails, no more tweets.  Chivalry isn’t dead – and you can prove it with our Mail Love socks!  Oh, how we wish we still lived in a time where star-crossed lovers waited impatiently by the mailbox for a letter from their loved one.  We’d love to open up their mailbox to a pair of these socks – and we’re willing to bet quite a few others would too!

Around here, Casual Friday pretty much happens every day of the week, but we know some our fans aren’t quite as lucky, so we thought we’d give them a way to get in on the action EVERY day.  Wear these socks to balance the hassle of wearing a suit everyday, or sport them on your Casual Friday and add to the fun! We bet everyone in the office will get a kick out of our Office Casual socks!

Of course we have a little something for the boys too!  Our 2 new men’s additions are some of our favorites yet!

Dancing circles around your friends on the dance floor?  Show off your skills with our Dance Steps socks!  Are you a klutz who can’t seem to find your footing on the dance floor?  Let us lead you!  Either way, our Dance Steps socks are a must-have for a night out on the town (or a private dance session in your own bedroom!).  Grab a pair of our Dance Steps socks to show you the way – you’ll be a regular Patrick Swayze in no time!

Saving the BEST for last!  We’ve FINALLY created the perfect combination!  Who doesn’t love whiskey?! And who doesn’t love mustaches?! Our Whiskey Stache socks scream a good time, and we think no wardrobe should go without them!

With additions like the Tacky Holiday Sweater sock, Confetti sock, and the Whiskey Stache sock, there is sure to a be design for everyone on the Holiday shopping list!  Sock It to Me’s make the perfect stocking stuffers – or compile a whole assortment for the ultimate gift!

Did you check out our latest contest – Can You Guess How Many Socks are in the Container?  We unloaded TONS of our holiday sock styles (take a stab at guessing how many and send it in to press@sockittome.com for a chance to win 4 of our holiday SITM’s!).  Despite the large shipment, these holiday styles are selling out FAST, so get them while you can!
