..taking her nickname "Velvet Angel" with her. "It's my creation that I'm really very proud of, as it earns me a decent living, certainly as much or more than I made at the company I used to work for. Besides, there are no fuel expenses to worry about since I work right here at home in my office." The timing was also good, because being able to make her own hours allowed Sharon to raise her grandson, who she has taken care of since birth. "We're going through the independent "terrible twos" toddler stage now, you've just gotta love it," she laughs.   These days, she's grateful to have a business she can call her own, one where the only boss she has to answer to is herself. "Perhaps it's the Sagittarian fire in me that just cannot tolerate someone telling me what to do when I have a better way or a better plan, and like a typical Sagittarius, I needed my freedom! I needed to be me, and I couldn't do that by working for someone else under strict rules and guidelines, most of which were senseless anyway. And for me, there are more important things in life to pursue than just the almighty dollar." That's not to say that there aren't skeptics. Her nearest and dearest have offered their opinion, loudly, since she went off to pursue the cards, saying that it wasn't a stable enough way to make a living, and that it was a bunch of hooey. "My circle of friends look at me with skepticism when I tell them that yes, I am still doing this work full-time after almost two years. It is a job, a self-made one at that, but a job that I love nevertheless. It pays bills and puts food on the table. It provides for my grandson, and I get to stay home…in my pajamas, too, if I happen to feel like it," Sharon says.

She doesn't let the doubters get her down, and she only sees her tarot business growing in the future, possibly even branching out into telephone readings. She enjoys the fact that she doesn't just give tarot readings, she gives guidance, and listens to people. She's able to help people and escort them towards feeling more confident, more hopeful: "One thing I have definitely learned in life is that anyone can choose to be whatever she wants to be, she just has to want it badly enough. It doesn't matter what others want for you or what they think you should want, do, or have. What matters above all else is what you want as the unique individual that you are."   That's a reading everyone can find hope in.
